Atlantic Crossing by Stephen Brown

Concorde G-BOAC over the Atlantic ocean on one of its daily flights
between London and New York.

It is now over 40 years since Concorde first took to the skies and immediately established itself as one of the engineering and design icons of the 20th Century. It is remarkable to consider that an aircraft that was flying before the first moon landing would be unsurpassed over such a long period. Indeed, if it were unveiled today it would surely still be heralded as a giant leap forward in aviation design.

Air frame G-BOAC was first registered in 1974 to the British Aircraft Corporation. After 28 years service it was retired in 2003 along with the rest of the Concorde fleet and now resides permanently at Manchester Airport.
