A de Havilland Mosquito B Mk IV of 139 Squadron over southern England heading out on a combat mission, 1943.
With Pilot Officer CV Pereira at the controls the first phase of the mission is uneventful as his navigator checks and double-checks their course. As they approach enemy lines they will descend to tree top height and use the legendary speed and stability of the Mosquito to dodge radar and flash past defensive gun installations before executing a precision strike on their target. Although a highly versatile aircraft that performed many roles during WWII the Mosquito became synonymous with dramatic high speed, low level precision strikes such as those on the Amiens Prison and the Gestapo Headquarters.
