SAS reconnaissance patrol - Libya desert 1942 - SAS original artwork.
The Willys MB Jeep was the primary vehicle of choice for the SAS in Northern Africa. The rugged and tough design was an excellent starting point, but a number of modifications were needed to cope with the hostile desert conditions. These included the removal of anything non essential to save weight, an enhanced cooling system, racks of jerry cans for petrol and water, special navigation aides and the fitting of Vickers K machine guns.
Pencil drawing on archival quality toned paper with subtle white highlights. The drawing is double mounted using high quality conservation mount board. Included in the display is an excellent reproduction of the SAS uniform parachute wings. Signed by the artist and supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
